Binatbatan festival

Binatbatan festival originated in Vigan city and was introduced in 2002 to be part of the festival to commemorate the Able Iloco. This festival is celebrated from the last week of April to the first week of May and was once known as the Feast of the Natives, which began on May 3, 1883.

Pounding cotton pods to remove the seeds for Abel weaving is known as "binatbatan." Locals regarded this as an occupational dance with two sticks called "batbat." One of the primary attractions during the week-long celebrations is the Binabatan street dance. One of the biggest attractions of the week-long event is the Binatbatan street dance. It is linked to the Abel Iloco craft of Vigan. The dance portrays how cotton is thrashed with bamboo sticks to free the cotton fluff, known as batbat, from its seepage.

Overall, the Binatbatan festival is important in culture and commemorates the Abel Iloco craft, which helps the industry.
